As a partner to Working Lands, Charlotte Brett has engaged in developing wetland mitigation opportunities since 2016. She brings nearly two decades of experience in environmental planning, compliance and permitting/mitigation services to public, private, and non-profit clients, and 14 years of experience in project management and project leadership.
As the owner of Empire Environmental Partners, Brett oversees economic development, energy, transportation, and municipal projects across multiple states. Currently, her primary goals within the organization focus on the ecological restoration economy. Brett also serves as the Treasurer for the New York State Wetlands Forum, where she has been on the Board of Governors since 2010.
Previously, Brett served as Environmental Group Leader within an architectural and engineering firm, where she built a staff of 25 employees with annual revenues of $2.5 million+ in less than 5 years. Additionally, she served as a biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and as a conservation work crew leader for the Student Conservation Association. Brett co-authored “Banking on Change: Rethinking Wetland Mitigation in the State of NY,” which was recognized as Ecosystem Marketplace’s “Top Read Story of 2013.”
